In Praise of VPL

An article by Julie Holmes from Februs 8.

For some time now the glossy monthly women’s magazines (you know the ones I mean) have been waging war against an enemy they claim is greater than Attila the Hun, Adolf Hitler and the VAT-man rolled into one. Panic has spread through the ranks of Womankind and fashion victims throughout the land are taking evasive action against the foe, known colloquially as VPL, or ‘Visible Panty line’.

Misguided fashion journalists are convincing their readers that a phenomenon that has brought pleasure to generations from World War One onwards is now to be regarded as a bad thing, totally undesirable and, in fact, pretty naff. They actually produce pages of photographs demonstrating undergarments that will be invisible under clothing.

Now, it could be that these people are incredibly naive, or that they have some ulterior motive for their actions that I cannot begin to fathom, or maybe they simply are not very good at their job. Whatever the reason, I find it worrying that alarm has spread so widely in a relatively short space of time and that all too many women are prepared to accept this propaganda.

Imagine: a nubile female stands before you on the ascending escalator at Tottenham Court Road or whatever. Which sight is more pleasing: figure-hugging leggings moulded smoothly to her hips and thighs, the only definition the central seam that runs from waist to crotch in imitation of the real divide of her bottom; or the same posterior but now sporting faint horizontal trace between the hips and teasing arcs at the natural crease between buttock and thigh, signifying the presence of panties? If you are not already doing so, think hard. The first image might seem initially aesthetically pleasing, but is it really so stimulating?

The tell-tale panty line is not a sign of slovenliness in the wearer. Rather, it shows that she is aware and proud of her intimate zones. In letting it be known that she has this extra layer of clothing she is reinforcing the idea of her ‘private parts’ being hers to expose or reveal at her discretion.

It is an admission that her body possesses features that are not only in need of protection from strangers, but are also so potent that casual acquaintances need to be shielded from them. Only appropriate suitors will be entrusted with the full knowledge of that which is encased in the nylon, silk or satin swathe.

The visible panty line is also a form of advertising. It shrieks to the onlooker, ‘I’m here and if you are sufficiently nice or dominant or seductive, all this can be yours.’ It says, ‘Herein lies a bottom and quim over which I have absolute control, but the fact that I am drawing attention to them in this way means you are in with a chance!’

Keep the image of the lycra-clad nymph before you. See her firstly without a VPL: what are you going to covet? Where is the demarcation for your desire? Now look more closely and behold the emerging outline of her knickers. Isn’t it eloquent? Does it not call you by name, begging you to spank it?

The shape of a woman’s briefs tells you a lot about her attitude to her body and intimacy. It indicates the exact region she considers to be ‘private’. This does not necessarily mean that someone who favours panties that cover a large expanse is prudish, just that she reserves the right to control more of her anatomy. In turn, if she grants you access to the region, the degree of intimacy is that much greater. Someone wearing the more conventionally sexy scanties or tanga briefs could be saying that she is willing to make more of her body readily available and only reserves a small area for herself to control. So the part covered by a woman’s underwear becomes your ‘target’ and determines where you will explore if she decides to become intimate with you.

Stay with our imaginary siren and let her lure you to a convenient storeroom, office or flat. You embrace, kiss, run your hands over one another’s clothed bodies and then begin to disrobe. Take your time; enjoy yourself; she likes you and isn’t about to run away. This is your fantasy, so you can decide the amount of clothing you remove from her and yourself, but at some point you find that her leggings are either pulled down or taken off and she is there before you with briefs covering her maidenly charms. What now?

Don’t you find your hands moving over the delicate material following the outline, tapping and patting at the pneumatic flesh contained therein? Don’t you bend her over or take her across your lap and start to slap the covered arse more firmly, making sure your stinging palm visits every square centimetre of the concealed flesh?

Can you feel the heat rising from the spanked skin through the thin fabric? Aren’t you curious to see the effect of you ministrations? I bet you can’t resist pulling at the waistband, tugging back the veil to reveal your masterpiece? Is the area of an even tone? Is there a patch that is not quite as roseate as the rest? Are you satisfied with your endeavours or is there room for improvement?

Discard the panties: they have served their purpose. Spank her now in earnest, use an implement of some kind if that is where your interest lies. See the liberated buttock-flesh quiver at each touch; note the ever-deepening crimson hue; smell the feminine sent of her arousal and listen to her moans of satisfied desire. And look at your handiwork: haven’t you kept almost exactly to the template of her absent briefs?

For the seasoned spanking enthusiast, a VPL is an invitation. He knows that real women don’t wear thongs or G-strings; it’s a visible panty line or nothing — in every sense gentlemen.

And long may it live to test, tantalise and arouse our imagination!
