Rebel at St Angela’s

A classic Roué video. Great to see that venerable institution St Angela’s referenced, and dealing with a whistle-blower in exactly the way we might expect.

Jennifer, a slim blonde schoolgirl, has got herself into a great deal of trouble. She has written a letter to the Board of Governors telling tales about one of the teachers, a Miss Padgett. In flashback we see the girl over the Headmaster’s knee receiving a bare-bottomed spanking. We then see naughty Jennifer in the Punishment Room with the redoubtable and very beautiful Miss Padgett, who doesn’t believe the girl has had enough in the way of chastisement. She orders her across the desk with her skirt up and knickers down. Then ensues the most thorough caning you are ever likely to see — a thrashing that has the girl pleading for mercy as her already sore buttocks undergo several stinging strokes from the sadistic young woman’s swishy cane.

Review from spankingfilmreview.com:

MF/f; time: 18 minutes

We keep expanding our vintage archives. Blond Jennifer, another sweet and innocuous-looking girl selected and presented so carefully by Roué, awaiting her spanking. No producer has ever exceeded Roué’s skill in depicting nail-biting, apprehensive girls awaiting their punishment. Jennifer has written a naughty letter about teacher Miss Padgett.

She reads posted instructions for girls awaiting punishment. Jennifer pulls up her skirt and pulls down her knickers as required as she awaits her appointment. There are flashbacks to her being spanked bare bottom by the headmaster. Round Two for her will be with Miss Padgett. Canes await in the corner.

Padgett enters. Jennifer’s pants are down as required. Her apologies are rejected; the fact that she has already had a session with the headmaster equally irrelevant. Stern Padgett takes matters into her own hands. ‘Sorry is not good enough… I’ve got the only answer… bend over!’ Padgett is played by the actress who was the senior prefect in Lessons at St Winifred’s Trilogy where she was a firm spanker but also turned up quite a broad bottom when the tables were turned on her.

Jennifer bends over a classic period school desk Roué uses, in a plausible bare school room. Hard hand smacks bring quick gasps. Padgett gets a cane. ‘I’m going to cane you until you beg me to stop… how many lines were in the letter… forty?’ We see about 25 strokes, varying from mild taps to hard zingers. Sweet, tear-streaked facials allowed the director to repeat some strokes, but the theatre has its desired effect on us. Padgett teases with the cane tip as Jennifer blubbers.

The brief film ends, Jennifer sits, bare bottom on the wood, to write an apology to the board of governors. Roué did not capture an oblique of this sight as they have done in some other classroom scenes.

  1. Miss Padgett herself obviously needs baring for a caning too. That the letter was ever written indicates her lack of real authority over the girls. The Board of Governors will all want to cane this teacher. Far harder than she canes the girl. And with no clothes on at all. With extras. And Other.

  2. Sending a letter of complaint to the Board of Governors of St Angela's, of all places, wasn't a very clever thing to do now, was it? What a very stupid girl to think her mithering would butter any parsnips with them! No, telling tales out of school is something that should meet with very firm retribution. I am reminded that the action in the classic Reform School Discipline film revolved around a letter having been sent to someone whom the miscreants concerned took to be a friendly, do-gooding, namby pamby cleric. Turned out they were sorely mistaken in that belief, the Reverend gentleman actually being a friend and associate of one of the supervising staff, who duly reports the matter to them so that it may be dealt with in the appropriate manner. I thought it might have been a good idea to have had the vicar, or whoever he was, in attendance at the resulting canings and strappings, gloatingly enjoying the girls' comeuppance and shattering their illusions as to his kindly disposition. Or, perhaps, he actually was in attendance, peering through a spy hole from behind a false wall, where he could give full surreptitious vent to his enjoyment of the girls' predicament?

This movie didn't match up to the standard of the above mentioned classic but I did enjoy the build up to Miss Padgett's arrival in what we can only presume to be St. Angela's hallowed Room 2D with 'Jennifer' apprehensively preparing herself by already raising her skirt, gingerly lowering her knickers, and bending over the provided desk whilst we are intermittently provided with entertaining flashbacks to the girl's quite thorough bare bottom spanking over the headmaster's knee. Entertaining for we the viewers that is, unpleasant memories however for the miscreant about to meet with Miss Padgett's vengeful wrath.

I actually think Miss Padgett is well played. She is very recognisable as that brittle and quick to anger, young schoolmistress type. They're usually PE and Games teachers with a strong lesbian bent. Accede to their friendly overtures and a pretty girl can usually keep out of trouble, find herself the beneficiary of considerable affection and largesse in fact; rebuke them, however, and she's done for! I'm imagining that it's something in this area which has provoked Jennifer's complaint to the Board of Governors. What do readers think of this kind of female? One or two of them feature in the St. Angela's stories where their presence and activities seem to be at least tolerated by the headmaster and other male teaching staff. I'm not so sure, however. Can it be right for pretty girls to be led into such unnatural practices? For that reason, though I agree with Jennifer being made to suffer for being a tell tale tit, I think the matter of her complaint should still be dealt with by the Board of Governors in the manner that Arthur above suggests.

I enjoyed the caning in this film. It seemed authentic. Even the lighter strokes elicited genuine expressions of pain from the recipient. That was good as it illustrates just what a formidable and fear inducing instrument of chastisement the cane is. Unfortunately, I was not so smitten on the choice of 'schoolgirl', rather boyish and old looking, though her bottom was choice enough. Not a patch on 'Lucy Palmer', in Room 2D. The usual difficulties with obtaining such 'talent' I expect.

Though I know it was retrospectively added to these old films, I cannot help but always be charmed by the church organ music we briefly hear at the start and end, The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel I believe. It always seems so appropriate to the subject matter, emphasising how corporal punishment is amongst this nation's finest traditions. I once read that tradition is experience backed by wisdom, something which should never be tinkered with or taken away. How right that is! Will we ever return to our senses and bring back the exalted rod, together with all it once stood for?!

    1. To be approved, is the trait of the school mistress being ‘quick to anger’ (as NMO accurately puts it). Schoolgirls should be barked at throughout their being dealt with: belittled and insulted (no-one does this better, of course, than the late great Alan Bell, see the aforementioned Reform School Discipline).

The teacher in this video is too posh-shrill. Far more effective is Miss Brown in, for example, ‘That’ll Teach ‘em’ - where she treats the three girls with barely concealed contempt and speaks with full authority. A contempt expressed in hitting the girls properly: every time.

  3. Miss Padgett is, of course, played by the same model who starred as Norton, the Head Girl in Janus's video, The St Winifreds Trilogy. In that one she gives other schoolgirls a good spanking before being caned by the Headmaster. This model is convincing as a dominant woman spanker and it's arousing to watch her in action, particularly as Norton.

  4. Does anyone know the contents of the 2 notices? They were legible when the film was shown in the Soho cinema in the 70s but are illegible now
