Artwork — Janus Contents by Paula Meadows 2
Five more illustrations from the Contents pages of Janus
magazine by Paula Meadows (and I've snuck in one by a different artist close to our hearts).
From Janus 22. This is a theme Paula returned to — a gust of wind parting curtains to reveal domestic discipline to the gaze of a passer-by.
From Janus 23. Playing tennis inside the house was always likely to end in tears.
From Janus 24. I’ve left this in sequence, but this one is not in fact by Paula but by our very own Darcy. This young lady has been put into a very embarrassing position for a severe punishment. Is her ordeal over yet?
From Janus 25. A shadow looms over these two carefully-positioned and cowering miscreants. Surely a severe caning awaits.
From Janus 26. A peeping Tom…
As a bonus, here is a later version of Darcy’s Janus 24 illustration done by the artist himself.

I like to think that the Janus 23 tennis girl, awaiting her turn, is the same young lady as the Janus 18 schoolgirl, again waiting for her turn, from last week's first selection of Paula Meadows' contents page artwork. She certainly looks similar, and even more provoking here, wearing tight shorts, snug where it matters, revealing tight vest and an alarmed expression on her pretty face. It seems she can't stay out of trouble!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite something that Darcy, dear to our hearts, represents a direct link back to the pages of Janus in its finest years. Lovely to see his alternative take on his published drawing.
Pretty girls look all the prettier when they look alarmed at being next to be caned. The cane-wielding lady has warmed to her task of punishment and is to be commended for her locking the girls in position between her legs by the neck and head. For the one who can't keep out of trouble , this next round of punishment to include 'the other' from behind, rammed in by the headmaster, while the girl is still headlocked, and between two twelve-stroke bare bottom thrashings.
