Looks like the girls are being told what's in store for them during this camping trip. And that's likely to involve the clergyman's thick, heavy belt and a tub of Hiker's Friend to rub in afterwards. The girl on the left is already crying. Perhaps she's just found out that she'll be sharing his sleeping bag with him that night. It'll be her friend's turn the following night. Where better to learn about the birds and the bees than the great outdoors? Besides, he'd forgotten to pack a third sleeping bag. I wonder whether the tent pole against which the canvas is pointedly straining has a counterpart in the front of his trousers.
