Artwork — Hardcastle specials 1

More orphaned artwork, this time some full-page drawings by Hardcastle that featured in mid-range Janus. Beautifully drawn, these are largely self-explanatory so I shan’t labour the message.

Firstly, this one from Janus 47, billed as ‘a Christmas treat’ entitled The Cult:

Next, from Janus 55, is Yearning:

And finally for this week, from Janus 57 (‘a heart-warming winterscape’) is Whispering Snowflakes:

  1. Second picture. The pulsating and often discordant rhythms of so called 'pop music', which have a marked tendency to excite and inflame the passions of the young, have been a consistent feature of the moral and societal breakdown we have witnessed since the 1950s, the decade in which a much more aggressive and rambunctious form of this entertainment was first introduced. Interpolating a pretty young maiden's indecent lusts for the preposterously overblown purveyors of this muck with the revered means by which such deficiencies may be addressed is an interesting juxtaposition, if not an entirely pertinent one. I would much rather see the fizzogs of our favourite Blushes' disciplinarians, for instance, glowering down from a young woman's bedroom wall than the faces of those twerps. The likes of George Canford, Ronald Carling and Arthur Greeley and numerous other Class 1 and 2 senior gentleman householders - new and very different teenage 'idols' for a new and very different age.

Third picture. A 'heart-warming' image indeed. Just the kind of punitive regime I'd like to see implemented with regard to those young women who think they can cock a snook at the authority of their gentlemen elders and betters. I don't really agree with the apparent lack of male supervision, however. Whilst I'm not totally against ladies of a certain age, disposition and background being involved in such work, I still envisage this as primarily being a male domain. Retired military gentlemen, most particularly, would be a perfect fit. I'm sure they would enjoy putting detainees through their paces and I'm sure also that they would enjoy thawing girls out, by various means, after the implementation of such icy rigours as those depicted in the artwork.

  2. I was reminded of the third picture this very morning when I ventured out into the frosty (-3 degrees) landscape to see that the route of the morning cross country run of the local girls private school was lead them right past my house. Although some had found some leggings or similar, quite a few of the older girls were wearing brief tight shorts (basically gym knickers) above their long bare legs. They looked like they could do with a bit of warming up, but I didn't offer.

    1. If only we really did live in the land of Blushes, hey?

    2. Indeed. One imagines a good few of the prettier girls would be waylaid by Blushes gents using a variety of reasons:
"Making a damned mess of the footpath"
"All that clumping about set the dog barking"
"Splashing mud all over the place" etc.
A dozen spanks on those cheeky bottoms to send the little madams on their way. Back at school, more than likely, six stingers with the cane for being so slow. Serves 'em right!

  3. Great comments chaps. Belated seasonal greetings to all.

(I have been somewhat distracted by having to deal with M. She’s been misbehaving- again. My latest write up will soon appear under the Sarah’s Problem post here on this blog as it touches on many of M’s issues for which she has to be dealt with).

Good to be back and looking forward to a leisurely catch up.
