Artwork — Paula Meadows’ Fessée covers 1

More orphaned artwork, this time from the incomparable Paula Meadows. Here are the beautifully illustrated covers from the first four editions of Fessée magazine.

Issue 1:

A self-portrait of Paula reading this very issue including the cover art (an example of the Droste effect). She is wearing sexy underwear (views on knickers over suspender straps or vice versa anyone? — Paula looks like the former, which I guess is more practical for various reasons) and a cane is tucked discreetly behind her on the window sill. A picture of a contented spanko and proud editor.

Issue 2:

What’s going on here? Are they lovingly holding hands in front of their rack of punishment implements, with a look of aroused anticipation on her face. Or is she trying to stop him taking an implement from the rack with a look of fearful anticipation on her face. His closed eyes seem to indicate the former.

Issue 3:

Nice to see an admirer of fine art… Some clues to what might be going through his mind are given by the shape of his umbrella handle and the look on the face of the statue in the background.

Issue 4:

What a lovely view. And she knows it, as she watches our reaction. I wonder what she is getting dressed and made up for, and what’s that lying on the stool? Also, is the "SM" tattoo a representation of the model’s real tattoo or a coded message?

More to follow next week…
